Therapy

The type of therapy offered at the Texarkana Children’s Advocacy Center is Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT). This is an evidence-based treatment modality for children ages 3-18 who have experienced trauma. This type of therapy includes the non-offending caregiver throughout the child’s therapeutic process.

Because every child’s needs are different, some of our therapists are also trained in other forms of therapy such as play therapy, sandtray therapy, Child-Parent Psychotherapy (CPP), and other types of expressive-arts therapies. Furthermore, our therapists are also capable of preparing children and their families for court, should that become part of the investigative process.

Lastly, in some cases, caregivers are also affected by their child’s trauma, and in those cases, our center can provide services for them as well.
