Here at the Texarkana Children's Advocacy Center (TCAC), we work daily to ensure hope, healing, and justice for children and families who have been impacted by trauma and abuse. While the families we serve have always had access to our core services free of charge (forensic interviews, family advocacy, medical exams, and therapy), we found that many of our families were struggling to cope and heal because their basic needs were not being met. Out of this need for additional funds for emergency assistance and a desire to involve the children and families in our community who are looking for meaningful opportunities to give back, the Lemonade Stand Project was launched.
When we volunteer with our children from a young age, we can foster in them a life-long love for serving others. Volunteering builds empathy and connection, teaches gratitude, strengthens skills and abilities, and can even improve physical and mental health.
If you're searching for a kid-friendly volunteer opportunity, look no further than the Texarkana Children's Advocacy Center's Lemonade Stand Project.

How it helps:
Many of the children and families we serve arrive at our center in crisis, feeling like their world is crashing down on them. While we are there to help the family cope with the initial report of child abuse and ensuing investigation, we also want to make sure the family's basic needs are being met so they can focus on protecting their child and rebuilding their lives. When Lemonade Stand Project funds are available, we can provide assistance with things like electric and water bills, groceries, clothing, bedding, school supplies, diapers/wipes, etc.
How to explain TCAC to a young child:
"The Children's Advocacy Center is a safe place where kids can get help if they've ever been hurt or in an unsafe situation."
