Elizabeth Hernandez, DHS

Elizabeth- Partner Spotlight.jpg

Elizabeth attended UTSA in San Antonio, TX where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology. Elizabeth held a job at Walmart through college which provided an abundance of experience in probably every situation possible! In college she completed an internship with Texas CPS, after which she knew for sure she was meant for this job! Elizabeth says, "I remember my adviser trying to talk me out of it, telling me the job was not what most people thought. She always seemed so surprised when I would tell her how much I loved it"! However, life had other plans for Elizabeth and she found herself in the Dallas, TX area for a few years where she worked as an Auto Claims Adjuster for GEICO laughing "No, I don’t know about saving you money on your car insurance, but I can give you some solid advice if you’re ever in an auto accident!" Elizabeth also states, "Luckily for me I found my way back home, and in October of 2016 started with Arkansas DCFS working investigations". Elizabeth primarily works Little River and Sevier County, but also assists in surrounding areas as needed. Of the career path Elizabeth knew she was meant for, she says "I really do love the work I do. I love being able to speak with kids, even when they are scared and its difficult for them. Helping a child feel comfortable or laugh for a second to feel safe enough to let me help is the best feeling in the world. I can’t imagine myself doing any other type of work. I also enjoy that my job allows me to assist families. Sometimes people are looking for help and don’t know how to ask for it. Being able to step in and assist with services, advice, or even just an open ear can go a long way. I’m grateful for the opportunity to help in my communities." Elizabeth has a 4-year-old son named Chubbs. "He is my whole heart, and a mighty fine looking French Bulldog. I have two human nephews that are pretty cool too and are definitely two of the biggest joys in my life. I’m extremely easy going and do my best to make any situation fun! I have a wide range of interests but do enjoy spending time with my family and friends, listening to music, and traveling as much as I can!"
